Digital-intelligent engineering has made substantive progress in the field of railway track construction. With the deepening of the three-stage path of digitalization, informatization, and intelligentization, a five-level information management and control platform covering the entire life cycle has been completed, enabling whole-process tracking of track slab manufacturing and intelligent control of laying precision. This marks that digital-intelligent engineering, as a paradigm of integrating digitalization and intelligentization across the entire engineering life cycle, has begun to demonstrate its ability to drive the full processes of design, construction, and operation and maintenance in specific engineering scenarios.
Digital-intelligent engineering is not the application of a single technology. Instead, it centers on BIM modeling, the Internet of Things, big data, and other technologies to build a digital foundation for the entire engineering life cycle. This digital foundation shifts engineering construction from traditional experience-driven approaches to data-driven approaches, making possible three-dimensional collaboration in the design stage, real-time perception in the construction stage, and intelligent decision-making in the operation and maintenance stage. In railway track engineering, this model uses standardized data interfaces and a unified information model to break down data silos among various business links.
In terms of implementation, railway track engineering is advanced in an orderly manner through three stages: digitalization, informatization, and intelligentization. The digitalization stage focuses on the digital representation of engineering objects and work processes; the informatization stage realizes the collection, transmission, and integration of key data; and the intelligentization stage relies on algorithms and models to automatically assess and optimize construction precision and quality risks. These three stages progress step by step, laying a solid foundation for the construction of the five-level information management and control platform.
The five-level information management and control platform is the core carrier of digital-intelligent engineering in railway track engineering. The platform covers multiple levels of management and control, from frontline work sites to project management, and is capable of tracking the entire manufacturing process of track slabs. From raw material entry, production processes, and quality inspection to factory shipment and transportation, the key information of each track slab is recorded in real time and associated with the digital model, achieving closed-loop management in which sources can be checked, destinations can be traced, and responsibilities can be investigated.
In the laying phase, the platform combines high-precision positioning and sensing technologies to intelligently control parameters such as the laying position, elevation, and plane deviation of track slabs. The system can automatically compare design values with measured values, issue immediate warnings for deviations beyond the allowable range, and assist on-site personnel in making adjustments. This approach significantly reduces manual measurement errors, improves the precision and efficiency of track laying, and provides reliable assurance for the subsequent stable operation of the line.
From an industry perspective, the implementation of digital-intelligent engineering in railway track engineering not only verifies the feasibility of the digital-intelligent integration paradigm, but also provides a reusable technical path for similar infrastructure construction. The mature application of the five-level information management and control platform and the whole-process tracking mechanism will help promote the transformation of engineering construction from extensive management to refined and intelligent management, reduce life-cycle costs, and improve engineering quality and safety.
As BIM, the Internet of Things, big data, and other technologies continue to penetrate the engineering field, digital-intelligent engineering is expected to be promoted in more specialized engineering projects. The data assets accumulated by the digital foundation will also play greater value in the operation and maintenance stage in the future, supporting predictive maintenance and intelligent scheduling. This trend is reshaping the organizational methods and management models of engineering construction, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of infrastructure.
