The application channel for the seventh Hengchuang Engineering Technology Excellence Award (HETEA) officially closed at 24:00 on August 31. According to preliminary statistics from the Project Management Department of the Executive Bureau, this edition received a total of 1,250 valid submissions, an increase of about 15% over the previous edition and a new submission-scale record since HETEA was established in 2019.
In terms of distribution by application category, the Technology Innovation Award received the largest number of submissions, with 422 entries; the Engineering Practice Award followed with 358; the Industry Contribution Award received 261; the Young Engineer Award received 145; and the Interdisciplinary Integration Award received 64. Although the Interdisciplinary Integration Award still had the fewest submissions among the five categories, it increased by nearly 30% compared with the previous edition, reflecting that the trend of cross-disciplinary collaboration in the engineering industry is continuing to strengthen.
From the regional distribution of applicants, this edition covered 22 countries and regions, three more than the previous edition. Newly added submission origins include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, mainly concentrated in the Engineering Practice Award and Industry Contribution Award categories, reflecting that large-scale infrastructure construction in the Gulf region and Southeast Asia is entering an intensive period.
According to the established review process, submissions for this edition will enter the formal examination stage in September. In October, the HETEC Expert Committee will organize the technical preliminary review, and the Academic Committee will conduct the final review of academic compliance. The Standing Council will deliberate and confirm the list of awardees in late October, and the award ceremony will be held in mid-November.
The Project Management Department of the Executive Bureau reminds applicants that this edition will continue to strictly implement the principle of "better vacant than unqualified." If none of the submissions in a category meet the award standard, that category will remain vacant and no award will be granted. In HETEA history, there have been two category vacancies: the first edition of the Interdisciplinary Integration Award and the third edition of the Young Engineer Award.
